49er Village is a very nice RV park that I think will be perfect for our rally, so I put a deposit down and made reservations for the same date we've been talking about...June 20-23. I reserved 44 sites (it just happened to come out like that when we looked at the site map and blocked out sites near each other). I walked around the entire park, and the front office representative gave me a key to look inside their dining hall. Here is what they have to offer:

1.) They have a very large dining hall that can accommodate 200 people. It also has a very large kitchen with four ovens, a six burner stove, and an enormous refrigerator. The dining hall has a stage where a band can set up and there is also a fireplace. 49ervillage staff will set up tables and chairs for us for our potluck. We have the dining hall reserved for the entire weekend. The dining hall also has a very large barbeque like the one Ab Diver provided for us at the June rally.

2.) Outside the dining hall is a patio terrace with tables with chairs and umbrellas. So we can spill over into the terrace if we so choose.

3.) Just outside the terrace and dining hall is their recreation area. They have two swimming pools, a sand volleyball court, horseshoes, three shuffleboard courts, and a medium sized grassy area for other activities.

4.) Adjacent to the dining hall is a CAFE and general store. They have sandwiches, coffee, ice cream cones, and other necessities. There is also a laundromat. Adjacent to the laundromat is a billiard room with four billiard tables.

5.) Across the street from the 49ervillage is Pokerville market, so you needn't bring food with you if you don't want to. You can do your grocery shopping at the market when you arrive.

6.) Right next to the sites we reserved is a large amphiteater we can use this area for our potluck dinner if we don't want to use the dining hall. The amphitheater is all cement, and in it is an area to have a campfire. The park staff will bring tables, chairs, and barbeque down to the amphitheater for us if we want to use it. There is also a raised cement platform in case we want to have a gold rush era band come and play for us(?).

7.) The campground is large and paved so kids can ride their bikes around all of the loops and play. There is also a playground. There is also a little pond where you can fish.

8.) The grounds are very well maintained. The sites are somewhat close togther (as usually occurs when you have sewer hookups). All the sites are complete full hookups with 30 amp service and cable television. Each site has a wide pavement driveway (remember, this place is made for RVs with triple slides), a relatively small strip of grass, and a picnic table. No fire rings at the sites, but like I said, we can have group campfires...or a continuous campfire which everyone helps keep lit throughout the day...at the amphitheater. Some sites have a nice sized strip of grass behind their sites (even sites 200-224), while the others do not. Some sites have a pond behind them with a fountain that pumps water into the air (even sites 226-238). All the other sites are pretty standard. Unforunately, due to the size of the sites and the campground policy, no tents are permitted on the sites. Most of the sites have at least one tree and have partial shade. From my observations, sites 200-206 have limited shade and sites 205-213 also have limited shade, but I may be off a site or two.

Here is the Far Horizons 49er Village Campground Map:

I reserved even sites 204-248 and odd sites 217-261. This will be known as "RALLY ALLEY"

A $35 deposit (one-night's stay) will reserve the remaining site of your choice. Please indicate on your check which site you are reserving!. My impression was that the best sites are even sites 208-238. The odd sites have neighbors behind them. I would like us to fill even sites 208-238 first and odd sites 221-253 first so in case we don't have all the sites filled, we are bunched together and we can release excess sites from the ends for the campground to the general public. So, if you want to leave a deposit, send me an e-mail and I will provide you with my mailing address. I will not cash the deposit, I will hold onto it and simply deduct it from your total cost when you pay in full at a later date (to be determined, see below). Should you need to cancel your reservation, I will simply mail the check back to you.

The cost will be $37.32 a night. This is with a 20% group discount and includes full hookups with cable, free use/reservation of the dining hall for the entire weekend, staff assistance in setting up and breakdown of tables and chairs for our events, free use of the amphitheater, billiard tables, games to check out, bocce ball, croquet, swimming pool, etc. The cost includes four adults and unlimited children under 12 years of age at each site. Should you not fit these guidelines, I don't want to know, and the campground isn't going to enforce it.

49ervillage also has studio and one-bedroom cottages for rent in case anyone wishes to bring in-laws and/or friends without a popup/RV. They are fully equipped and furnished. The studio cottage costs $115/night and the one-bedroom costs $150/night.

While the cost is ~$37.32 a night, I was thinking about creating a "rally" package that would include three nights, a catered meal (either breakfast or dinner), band for one night, and other costs associated with organizing this event such as name tages, balloons, banners, etc. I haven't figured it all out and could use some assistance in these areas, so I won't be asking for full payment until springtime most likely. All the reservations will be going through me, including site choice arrival date, departure date, number of people, etc. Should you choose to stay longer or arrive earlier, you will receive the group rate we have already received.

If you all have any questions that I may not have addressed, please send me an e-mail.
